For those of you that have started knitting this, what do you think? I do not like the way the cables are lying. Maybe it's the yarn I'm using, but it just seems lumpier than I'd like ... I guess I prefer a smoother look around the neckline.
Hmm. I just cast on (so much for my resolution to wait!) but I haven't started the cable rounds yet. What yarn did you use? I don't suppose it's something that could be fixed by blocking...?
I made a few cable rounds and realized I had the same problem. The second row with its six-stitch cable appears to cause the trouble. I think I will unravel the cable rounds and repeate row number 1 twice. I am also thinking about knitting only 3 or 4 stitches in place of the 6 knit stitches that are in the 2nd row of the diamond pattern and then increasing the stitches before crossing the cable. That would hopefully make the cable less bulky. I would have to compensate somehow for the 2 or 3 extra stitches that I would gain though.
I think the cable is kind of interesting as it is, and the fabric should relax with washing and blocking. Perhaps you can knit a swatch with the big cable crossing and see what happens when it's blocked? I've completed 2 repeats of the big cable already, and I like the look...
Can I join this knitalong? I e-mailed the address suggested, but received no response...

Gauss, I haven`t received your email. Do you mind resending it or leaving it in a comment here, so I can send you the invitation?
Ok, I've just resent the e-mail; hopefully this one works!
